I know there has been a lot of talk about the scandal in Rome. The devil is powerful in trying to separate us, there is even a local man putting our radio add telling everyone lessen your contributions to church because they are shutting down some schools. The adds are sponsored by Shuester Concrete. Lets pray for Brother Dan and forgive him, for he knows not what he is doing.
So I am at the beach for Easter. There is a surfer’s fellowship here in Bethany and I was surfing with some of them the last 2 evenings. I was pretty surprised how they did not really give Holy Thursday and Good Friday and significance.
If you don’t surf you have to know that surfer’s look all peaceful and cool but when you are in the water it is a battle for waves, especially when there is only one or two peaks where the waves break. So being a Christian surfer means bearing a huge cross. Being a Catholic around new age Pentecostals, Baptist, and all sorts of hybrid Christians is a challenge. So instead of judging them and being frustrated I gave thanks to God for hanging on his cross for me. The most important revelation I got was how lucky we Catholics are that we have our traditions. I wept becuase I was surrounded by people that had no idea that we were surfing in paradise late afternoon on good Friday, when the creator was still hanging dead on the cross.
There can be scandal after scandal but I will always be glad that I am Catholic.
Thanks for dying for us
